Back to Germany

As some of you probably know, I've developed a fascination with Porsche. This comes from my Uncle Bill and from living in Germany for 3 years. This one was going slow (around 140 km/h) on the A5 North Autobahn just south of Karlsruhe. I am in the left lane which means I am going faster than him. You just do NOT pass on the right in Germany, and I wish the US would figure out how efficient that is.

I mentioned in previous posts how thrilled we were to have lucked out and got stuck with the Mercedes for our rental car. Europe has legal speed limits everywhere except some parts of Germany. In most places (Autobahns included) Germany has a limit, but there are some places where you can go as fast as you want (the speed limit is just suggested at 130 km/h). So, here I am taking advantage of a stretch of no limit to take the Mercedes up to 180 km/h, which translates to 112 mph. The red and white sign just about the speedometer is the rental car company's reminder that they don't want you going faster than 210 km/h in their vehicle. I didn't quite push it that far.

After leaving Colmar, our next destination was Heidelberg, but we took a detour through Zuffenhausen to see the newly opened Porsche Museum.

A Porsche Speedster from the late 50s. Forget which model.

Mac and Katie and Teresa were also pretty zoomed to get to the Porsche Museum, but Mac has definitely taken after his family members in appreciating Porsche. Here he is with his chosen model.

I can only assume that the picture of the speedometer is slightly blurry because you were LOOKING AT THE ROAD when you were taking that picture. ;)
